Xperia Z5 Premium vs Galaxy S6 Edge+: Which is Better?

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ vs Sony Xperia Z5 Premium - Which one to Choose or Go with?

Which one to Buy? Galaxy S6 Edge+ or Xperia Z5 Premium.

First kindly let me tell you that I am neither a fan boy of Samsung not of Sony, I am just a fan of technology that makes the lives of people easy.

1.  The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is IP68 certified, which means its dust proof and water resistant over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes but the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ has none of those. What a sham?

2) The display of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is 2 times better than the Galaxy S6 Edge+, How? Well the Galaxy is a 2K display and the Xperia is a 4K display and moreover you know what the Xperia Z5 Premium has a pixel density of 806 ppi but the Galaxy S6 Edge+ has a mere 518 ppi.
3) The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a microSD card slot which can be expanded up to 200 GB, but the Galaxy S6 Edge+ has no any external memory card slot, and I believe this is the primary category which the Galaxy S6 Edge+ really fails.

4) The camera resolution of Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is 23 megapixels while the Galaxy has only 16 megapixels, but megapixels is not the thing that one should be concerned about a camera because at the end of the day it all depends on the quality of the image than the sensor produces, and without any doubt the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is still the worlds best camera.

5) The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a juice of 3420 mAh while the Galaxy has only 3000 mAh, but the Galaxy still outperforms with its wireless charging technology.

6) The Sony Xperia has FM radio with RDS while the Galaxy has no any Radio, Samsung thinks that radio is a dead technology but in real every wireless is a radio as they runs on radio frequency.

7) The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has communications features like DLNA and MHL 3 TV-out but Galaxy S6 Edge+ does not have any.

8) The Galaxy S6 Edge+ has a RAM of 4GB while the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has only 3GB. 3GB is good but 4GB is too good.

9) The Galaxy S6 Edge+ has heart rate sensor and SpO2 for calculating the amount of oxygen in blood while the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has none of those. Well I guess concentrating too much on the 4K display Sony forgot some other important sensors that a premium device should really have.

10) The Galaxy S6 Edge+ has larger display size at 5.7 inches than the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium which is of 5.5 inches, and if you think that does not make a much difference than I want to let you know that the dimension in length and breadth are exactly same of both the smartphones, so the screen-to-body ratio of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is definitely more at 75.6% than the Xperia Z5 Premium which is of 70.4%.

11) Also the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is slimmer at 6.9 mm than the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium which is at 7.8 mm.

12) In terms of weight the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is lighter at 153 grams than the Sony Xperia Z5 which is at 180 grams.

13) For Graphics the Galaxy S6 Edge+ has Mali-T760MP8 GPU while the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has Adreno GPU 430. For years Adreno has been developing GPUs for smartphones and just click of a button Galaxy omitted them.

14) The Galaxy S6 Edge+ has Exynos chipset while the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has Snapdragon chipset. I wonder why Galaxy S6 Edge+ did not use the world best ARM chipset Snapdragon. The Exynos is manufactured by Samsung Electronics while the Snapdragon is of Qualcomm.

So now we arrive at the end of the comparison and its time to decide who is the winner.

In a simple way a straight forward answer is the Xperia Z5 Premium in terms of specs and features, while in terms of looks the Galaxy S6 Edge+ really kills the Xperia. If you ask me which one to choose, I will go with the Galaxy S6 Edge+ of 128 GB to remove the expandable memory card slot problem.

  1. ‘Not a Samsung or Sony fanboy,.Yet you can clearly see you favour the Samsung… No matter what review you read these days whether it’s an LG, HTC, Sony vs a Dumdung the Samsung always gets the better review. Absolutely pathetic.
